Their Education Is Counting On YOU

About The Cause

EducaTECH is an organization that is working to support technology for all students and families in the Bay Area. Currently, 1.5 million Bay Area residents do not have home internet access. Additionally, 41% of low-income households lack home internet and a computer. Taking into account online learning for students during the COVID crisis, providing families with laptops is more critical than ever. We are desperately asking for your help for these resources. It is the only way that students can continue their education during such an unprecedented time.

We are donating all technology to TechExchange, an Oakland/Bay Area based organization. TechExchange supports families who are digitally disconnected by providing access to refurbished computers, affordable internet, tech support, and digital skills training. Over the past 20 years, TechExchange has distributed over 50,000 laptops to students in Oakland and the Bay Area. Currently, TechExchange is focused on raising funds for home technology needs for students in regards to current issues surrounding COVID-19.

Donate Technology

Do you have old laptops sitting in the back of your closet? We will take any laptops no matter what condition they are in. Yes, the screen could be cracked, all the keys could be missing, it could be drawn on, or even in two pieces. No matter the condition, the laptop or its parts will be refurbished and donated to another student in Oakland or elsewhere the Bay Area. Thank you so much for your donation. Every laptop we collect changes the fate of a student and their family during the COVID crisis and provides them with the resources they need to continue their education at this time.

This district has almost 50,000 students and has many large needs during this time, including raising money for student internet access, student and adult meals, books, and hygienic supplies. Please consider donating to make a huge difference for Oakland Public Schools so that all students can grow and thrive, especially throughout the COVID crisis. Even if you can donate $5 in lieu of your morning coffee, any amount is greatly appreciated.
